After spending millions in contributions to super PACs and the Clinton campaign, George Soros and his foundation Democracy Alliance hosted a meeting, intended to combat Donald Trump and his plans for the country. The conference was held at Washington D.C.’s pricey Mandarin Oriental hotel. The meeting was attended by several influential union leaders ad Democrats including Nancy Pelosi, Elizabeth Warren and Congressional Progressive Caucus co-chairman Keith Ellison.

This meeting was the first gathering of liberal movers and shakers since Donald Trump defeated Hillary Clinton last November. George Soros held sessions focusing on halting President-elect Trump’s 100-day plan, which they believe is an assault on President Obama’s achievements and legacy. Thor Halvorssen – The Bold Face of Global Human Rights

Thor Leonardo Halvorssen Mendoza, known to the world simply as Thor Halvorssen is a Venezuelan supporter of human rights. He is also a film producer with notable inputs in the fields of public policy, individual rights, public interests, and civil liberties. Referred by Times as the advocate of powerless and underdogs, he started promoting human rights from a young age in 1989 in London when he organized a bold opposition to South African apartheid.

Of Norwegian and Venezuelan descent, he didn’t become involved in full-time advocacy of human rights until his father became a political captive in Venezuela. However, he started taking his human rights work to the next level when founded Human Rights Foundation in New York. This happened only after his mother was shot in the midst of a political protest in 2004.

The Human Rights Foundation was built to release political prisoners in Latin America and also endorse democracy. Ever since its formation, HRF has successfully managed to release seven prisoners of conscience, published books on state responsibilities and importance of individual rights, proposed amicus briefs in high-profile international human rights cases, among others.

Not only did Halvorssen establish the HRF, he is also the founder and CEO of Oslo Freedom Forum, which is described as a magnificent human-rights festival by The Economist. Some people even call it the Davos Economic Forum in the making. Halvorssen has been actively involved in human rights and also supports On Own Feet, a Prague-based peace movement for children.

Halvorssen realized that in his work, the best way to be heard is through media channels. Thus, he became involved as a columnist for left-friendly Huffington Post. He also writes actively for Forbes Magazine. In May 2010, Halvorssen bought the popular leftist Norwegian news magazine, Ny Tid. He is currently working to produce a film based on Robert Heinlein’s “The Moon is a Harsh Mistress.”

Jewish People in America Have a Friend in Adam Milstein, Founder of MFF

There are many meanings for philanthropy, including compassionate, brotherly love, and generosity, but most people do not get to give in great proportions at this level, but Adam Milstein has made it his career to building relationships between Israel and the United States and helping the Jewish-Americans who reside in America.

In 2000, Adam and his wife Gila, founded the Milstein Family Foundation, MFF, to accomplish these goals. The Milsteins were both born and raised in Haifa, Israel. Adam served his term in the Israeli Army and then attended Technion, Israeli Institute of Technology where he received a Bachelors of Science Degree.

At the age of 27, he and Gila and their two children moved to California where they became citizens and had one more child. In 1983, Adam graduated from the University of Southern California with a Master’s Degree in Business Administration, and he entered the real estate field with his father.

The Milsteins practice three unique principles in their philanthropic mission, and they deal with the method in which they participate in philanthropy.

Adam explains that he sees Active Philanthropy, Life Path Impact, and Philanthropic Synergy as the structure of MFF. MFF is an umbrella organization for other non-profits including the Israeli-American Council where he is National Chairman and Sifriyat Pijama B’America, which educates this generation of Jewish-Americans in their heritage with books and other materials.

Mr. Milstein is extremely active in the Jewish community that encourages and strengthens the Jewish population.
